Zinc-carnosine is a 1:1 chelated complex of zinc and the dipeptide L-carnosine, first developed in Japan in the 1990s. The chelate adheres to ulcerated regions of the gastric and intestinal mucosa, releasing its components precisely where healing is needed. Over 20 clinical trials support its use in functional dyspepsia, gastric ulcer healing, H. pylori eradication (as an adjunct to triple therapy), and NSAID-induced gut damage. Recent research also shows benefit for intestinal barrier integrity and 'leaky gut.' Standard dose is 75 mg twice daily before meals.
