What is Tocotrienols?
Vitamin E exists in eight forms, four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. Most supplements provide only alpha-tocopherol, leaving out the tocotrienols, which have unique benefits not replicable by tocopherols. Annatto-sourced tocotrienols (delta and gamma forms, tocopherol-free) are the most clinically studied. Trials demonstrate benefits for liver enzymes in fatty liver disease, lipid profile, skin UV protection, and bone density. Tocotrienols are also being researched for cancer prevention. Standard dose is 75-300 mg of total tocotrienols per day, with a fat-containing meal.
