What is Tribulus Terrestris?
Tribulus terrestris is a small flowering plant used for centuries in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine. Its active compounds, steroidal saponins, particularly protodioscin, have been investigated for libido, erectile function, and athletic performance. While tribulus does not reliably raise testosterone in healthy men, multiple placebo-controlled trials do show meaningful improvements in self-reported libido and sexual satisfaction in both men and women. Standard dose is 250-1500 mg per day of extract standardized to ≥45% saponins (Bulgarian-sourced is traditionally preferred).
