Take beta-alanine any time, splitting the dose to reduce the harmless tingling.
Like creatine, beta-alanine works by building up in muscle over weeks, so daily total beats timing. Its only quirk is a harmless skin-tingling (paresthesia) after larger single doses, which splitting solves.
Take 3 to 6 g per day, split into two or three smaller doses with food to minimise tingling.
You do not need to take it right before training for it to work.
