Best time to take Zinc Picolinate
Take zinc with a small amount of food, ideally away from iron and calcium.
Zinc absorbs well on an empty stomach but often causes nausea, so a little food is the practical compromise. It competes with iron and copper, so high doses are best separated from them.
Take up to about 40 mg per day with a light snack, separated from iron by a couple of hours. For colds, short-term use at the first sign is the typical approach.
Do not take high-dose zinc long-term, it can deplete copper.
