Best time to take Alpha-Lipoic Acid
Take alpha-lipoic acid on an empty stomach, about 30 minutes before a meal.
ALA absorbs better fasted, and minerals in food can blunt its uptake, so it is timed before eating. It supports insulin sensitivity and acts as an antioxidant.
Take it 30 minutes before breakfast or split before meals. If you are diabetic, monitor blood sugar, as ALA can lower it.
Watch for low blood sugar when combined with glucose-lowering medication.
