Best time to take Iron Bisglycinate
Take iron in the morning on an empty stomach with vitamin C, away from coffee, tea, and calcium.
Iron absorbs best in an acidic, empty stomach, and vitamin C boosts uptake several-fold. Coffee, tea, dairy, calcium, and high-fibre foods all block it, so they must be kept apart from your iron dose.
Take it with a small glass of orange juice or about 200 mg of vitamin C, 30 minutes before food. Keep coffee, tea, and calcium at least 2 hours away. Every-other-day dosing can actually absorb better and is gentler.
If iron upsets your stomach, a gentle form like bisglycinate with a small low-calcium snack is a fair compromise.
