What is Iron Bisglycinate?
Iron is essential for hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen from your lungs to every tissue. Iron deficiency is the most common nutrient deficiency worldwide, particularly affecting menstruating women, pregnant women, endurance athletes, and people on plant-based diets. Symptoms include unusual fatigue, paleness, shortness of breath, cold extremities, and impaired exercise capacity. Iron bisglycinate (Ferrochel) is far gentler on the stomach and better absorbed than the harsh ferrous sulfate found in cheap supplements. Standard supplemental dose is 15-25 mg of elemental iron, taken with vitamin C and away from coffee, tea, calcium, or dairy for optimal absorption. Because symptoms like fatigue and pallor are non-specific, iron supplementation is best guided by laboratory testing, particularly ferritin and hemoglobin levels, rather than symptoms alone.
Gentle, well-absorbed iron. Especially relevant for menstruating individuals or low-energy / pale-skin profiles.
