Best time to take Vitamin C
Take vitamin C anytime; split doses above ~500 mg for better absorption.
Vitamin C is water-soluble and its absorption saturates, so smaller, split doses are used more efficiently than one large dose, which is mostly excreted. It does not need food, and taking it with iron actually boosts iron uptake.
Keep single doses around 200 to 500 mg, or split a higher daily total into morning and evening. Take it alongside iron if you want to improve iron absorption.
Very large single doses can cause loose stools and are largely wasted.
